Community Meal Volunteers

Join our team providing twice-weekly meal services to people experiencing homelessness and food insecurity in Tauranga. We provide kai, connection, clothing, showers, access to free laundry and any support we can every Thursday and every Saturday, every week.

Volunteers make it all happen. Depending on your strengths and comfort level, you might: - Welcome manuhiri (guests) and serve hot drinks - Help with kitchen duties- prepping, cooking, serving, dishes. - Set up and pack down tables, chairs, and equipment - Help with laundry from home (providing lots of hot showers means lots of towels to wash and dry!) - Bake or cook at home towards our meals - Help during 'bulk cook' days.

**Your first shift**

We know walking in for the first time can feel uncertain. Here's what actually happens: you'll receive an induction and details via email before your first shift. On the day you first volunteer, you will meet one of our amazing Meal Managers who'll show you around, introduce you to the team, and work out which tasks suit you best. They will be there throughout. Most volunteers start with simpler tasks like setup or serving, then naturally find their groove from there.

**Who we're looking for**

No experience needed - just: - A respectful, non-judgmental approach - Willingness to follow health and safety procedures - Reliability (our whānau count on consistent service) - Comfort working with people from diverse backgrounds

Helpful but not essential: food handling experience, physical fitness for setup/packdown
