The Netherlands Society Rotorua Inc. (often locally called the Dutch Club) is a vibrant cultural organization established in 1965 to support Dutch immigrants and preserve Dutch heritage in the Bay of Plenty region. Functioning as a "home away from home," it focuses on cultivating a sense of "gezelligheid"—the signature Dutch concept of warmth, coziness, and community togetherness. Where to Find It Venue: Netherlands Society Hall Location: Neil Hunt Park, Tarawera Road, Lynmore, Rotorua 3010 What the Society Does Social Support & Heritage Preservation: Originally created for the mid-century wave of Dutch migrants, the club provides ongoing social connection, migration support, and occasional assistance with Dutch translation or interpreting. Regular Coffee Mornings: Community members gather at the hall every first Tuesday of the month at 10:00 AM for casual socializing over coffee. Dutch Markets: The society hosts bi-monthly popular local markets featuring authentic Dutch foods, baking, and treats. Cultural Festivals & Events: Our spearhead local celebrations for national milestones, such as "Dutch Week" and King’s Day. This frequently includes active public events like the Orange Bike Ride, a social cycling event where participants dress in orange, decorate their bikes, and finish at a local pub. Hall & Kitchen Hire: The venue includes premium cooking facilities, bench space, and an integrated bar, making it available to the wider Rotorua community for private events,
